Summer Solstice in Calgary

The day with the most daylight is the summer solstice and that was yesterday, June 21. In Houston I never really thought much about the summer solstice but in Calgary, it is a little bit different. The picture that you see was taken at 10:00 p.m. There was still that much daylight that late in the evening. The sun rise was at 5:21 a.m. and it set at 9:55 p.m. That is 16 hrs. 33 min. of sunlight! In Houston yesterday, you guys had 14 hrs. 3 min. of sunlight. That is quite a difference. You don't realize what time it is by the amount of daylight. It is kind of weird. This view is out of Peter's patio window. You can see the Bow River as well as some other condos. On a clear day, you can see the mountains in the far distance. This is where we have been enjoying both breakfast and dinner. By the way, I loaded this image. Peter has loaded all of the rest of them. I can't wait to set up a blog for my students next year. FUN!
